Description

Renovations at Willis Tower Brings Security to New Heights

Step out on The Ledge and explore the security at Willis Tower from the inside out. The 1,450-foot-tall skyscraper is undergoing an unprecedented $500 million redevelopment, including 300,000 square feet of dining, entertainment, and tenant amenities. As a U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act designated site, the challenges include balancing the demands of the building’s distinction with the competitive leasing market and trends toward open collaborative workspaces.

Keith Kambic, CPP

Director, Security and Life Safety at Equity Office Properties

Keith Kambic, CPP, has been in the security industry for more than 30 years in a variety of capacities. After graduating from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, he worked for many notable properties prior to accepting a position as the director of security at the Aon Center in Chicago. The Sears Tower (today known as the Willis Tower) recruited him to manage ongoing security and life safety challenges for the tallest building in the Northern Hemisphere at the time. Kambic has served ASIS International as a past president of the Professional Certification Board and chair of the Commercial Real Estate Council. He is also a member of the ASIS Commercial Real Estate Council and the Chicago BOMA Emergency Preparedness Committee.
