Description

Effective Red Team Assessments

A Red Team Assessment (“Red Team”) is the process of using tactics, techniques, and procedures to emulate real-world threats in order to train and measure the effectiveness of the people, processes, and technology (the “program”) used to secure an organization.  The purpose of a Red Team Assessment is to identify vulnerabilities in the security program in order to provide the organization with prioritized corrective measures that improve and strengthen the program.  However, for the Red Team to be effective, it must be properly planned, documented and communicated.  Properly communicating the Red Team results is crucial to improving the security program; ensuring sharpened skills and more robust responses.  In this presentation, we will discuss considerations for properly planning and executing a Red Team Assessment of a security screening operation (e.g. bag search, metal detection, x-ray); including program authorization and documentation, personnel selection and training, and communicating the results in a manner which improves the program.

Dave Beeman, is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) Board Certified in security management by ASIS International, with more than 25 years of corporate and contract security experience including providing services for commercial, cultural and government facilities, foreign heads of state, large public gatherings, sporting events, and special security events (as designated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security). Utilizing SAFETY Act Certified principles, Dave has developed and implemented security screening programs that meet the requirements of college sports, commercial facilities, courthouses, professional sports leagues, special event venues/stadiums, transportation facilities, and the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP). These programs include the selection of the appropriate screening methods and equipment, communicating the screening process, screening area design and staffing, record keeping and employee training, certification, and testing.

Dave is currently a Vice President of the only company SAFETY Act Certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to prevent the introduction of prohibited items into a secured venue.
