Description

Security Management magazine is excited to present a discussion with William J. Bratton, former NYPD Commissioner and current Executive Chairman for Teneo Risk and Pat Timlin, CEO of SliverSEAL for a fast-paced and interactive webcast that directly addresses an essential leadership challenge facing security professionals.

More recently, the C-Suite has been focused on strategies that prevent, mitigate, and manage security threats. But security is still often viewed as a cost or ‘bottleneck’ to doing business.  As a result, security initiatives can sometimes be deprioritized, underfunded or miscommunicated, which only challenges the risk posture of an organization.  A key part of overcoming this dilemma is ensuring that the investments in security and the corresponding benefits resonate with executive leadership in terms of value-add, return on investment and protection of people and assets. Bratton has demonstrated how a culture of communication and results-oriented risk management makes organizations and municipalities alike safer, more effective, and more resilient.

Carolyn Parent is CEO of LiveSafe and a leader in the risk intelligence technology sector. She will join this dialogue to speak to the emerging role of technological innovation in equipping a broad-based proactive culture of security.

Key learning objectives for this session include:

  • Debunking misconceptions of security within your organization
  • Recasting corporate security as a strategic role and value driver
  • Elevating the value your employees and stakeholders ascribe to security
  • Building a prevention mindset
  • Predictions about the future of corporate security

William J. Bratton
Executive Chairman
Teneo Risk

William J. Bratton is one of the world’s most respected and trusted experts on security and risk issues. During a 46-year career in law enforcement, he instituted progressive change while leading six police departments, including seven years as Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department and two nonconsecutive terms as the Police Commissioner of the City of New York. He is the only person ever to lead the police agencies of America’s two largest cities.

As Chief of the New York City Transit Police, Boston Police Commissioner, and in his first term as New York City Police Commissioner, he revitalized morale and cut crime in all three posts, achieving the largest crime declines in New York City’s history. As Los Angeles Police Chief from 2002 to 2009, in a city known for its entrenched gang culture and youth violence, he brought crime to historically low levels, greatly improved race relations, and reached out to young people with a range of innovative police programs.

In his current role as the Executive Chairman of Teneo Risk, Commissioner Bratton advises clients on security matters related to both physical infrastructure security, cybersecurity and counter-terrorism. His division within Teneo Risk, comprised of leading experts with backgrounds in law enforcement, military, intelligence, strategy consulting and prior roles with the State Department and US Secret Service, focuses on three core areas: security risk advisory, crisis preparedness and response and cyber risk management
